What happens when you sign up
Setup is done for you. You send us your documentation, we index and test it, and you get a script tag and a report. Most accounts are answering customers the next working day.
Step 1 — You send us your documentation
Anything readable works: a link to your public help centre, an export from Zendesk, Intercom or Notion, a folder of documents, or a mix of all of them. If your documentation lives in four places, send four. We would rather work with what you actually have than wait for you to tidy it up first.
Tell us at the same time what you want the assistant called, what your brand colours are, and which questions it should offer when a visitor opens it.
Step 2 — We index and test it
We load your documentation, split it into sections, and build the search indexes. Then we run real questions through it — ideally questions from your own queue, if you can send us a sample — and read the answers ourselves.
You get back a short report: what it answers well, what it answers poorly, and which questions your documentation does not cover at all. That last list is usually the most useful part. See Getting your help centre ready.
Step 3 — You paste one line into your site
We send you a single <script> tag. It goes in your site template, anywhere
before the closing </body>. That is the whole integration. See
Adding Karas to your website.
Step 4 — We connect your helpdesk, if you want handoff
If you want visitors to be able to reach your team through the widget, we connect your helpdesk during setup. This is a separate step because it needs credentials from you and verification from us. See Connecting your helpdesk.
How long your side takes
About twenty minutes in total: one email with your documentation and brand details, one paste into your template, and reading the report we send back.
